How to read it
Direction = lexical realm. Wedge width is arbitrary; adjacency is meaningful — neighbouring realms are semantically close.
Distance from centre = obscurity. Dead centre is a word a ten-year-old knows. The rim is "I had to google that."
Colour = why it died.
The shape is the finding. The centre is red — familiar words are taken. The rim is where the free ones are — but free only because nobody uses them. Both rings are dead. The gap is a near-centre band that single words cannot reach.
